Alright, this is a topic that we have not really discussed on the board that I know I'm interesting in seeing how it turns out.
So, I just thought I'd offer my own personal prediction for impromptu...
6. Mickey Raney
5. David Stroup
4. Brice Acree
3. Connie Hagans
2. Rebekah Allen
1. Chad Reese
I'd have to say that I haven't had a chance to see the people I put in top four in action for awhile, and I may be a little off. However, based on times competed, and results, I feel that my end of season rankings here should prove to be pretty accurate.
(NOTE:I'm somewhat worried that I may be too afraid of team biasness on this issue. So, I'm interested to see what other's have to say.)

What about Stroup and Otto? Or does Otto not do it?
My picks:
6: Raney
5: Stroup
4: Otto
3: Allen
2: Acree
1: Reese
If Otto isn't competing, then I would place Johnson on the boards...Unless he also doesn't compete in which case I'll just stick with top 5 :)

Otto does it occasionally - but hasn't at any tournaments this year :P ... I'm not really a huge fan.
Therefore, I'm not qualified to do it at state. If I even GO to state.

Okay, months and months ago, when Logan Scisco started a thread about predicting Extemp rankings, I respectfully asked not to be included in that thread's discussion.
Though I feel differently about Impromptu than I do Extemp, I would still very much appreciate it if I was not included in these Impromptu predictions. It makes me extremely uncomfortable to have my name posted on the Internet (it's super-creppy when people--who I've never met before--walk up to me at tournaments and try to start conversations and know my name....*shudder*). I also have a great distaste (again a personal thing, not trying to knock the thread or anything) for ranking competitors, whether it's in the events I do or not.
So if you please, do refrain from including my name in any of these or other rankings. Thank you in advance.

I understand... I thought since you thought differently about this event you wouldn't mind. Sorry about that... Well, my adjusted rankings then:
6. Huot
5. MIC
4. Stroup
3. Acree
2. Hagans
1. Reese
So, two things: WHY ISN'T Q DOING IM AT STATE? AND WHY AREN'T YOU QUALIFIED IN IM COURTNEY?
Make that three: WHY AREN'T YOU SURE YOU'RE GOING TO KHSSL?!?!?
Ok, I'm done for now.

I have been a super slacker this year, where speech is concerned. I think I've gone to a grand total of. . .one. . .in-state tournament this year. The other 3 have been out-of-state.
So, at LaRue/Calloway, I didn't do Impromptu, b/c I don't really like the event, and I'm not that good at it. . .and since that wound up being my only chance to prequal for state (and I was in Canada during Regionals), I can't go in Impromptu. I've never done that event at State, now that I think about it.
And, as for KHSSL; my coach doesn't like WKU tournaments, and didn't take us last year. . .he's kinda moving towards apathy now, though. If we can get enough people who want to go, I figure we'll go, one way or another. I certainly hope we're going, that's for sure - I missed this tournament last year, and want to be there my sr. year :P

Yea, IMP isn't my forte by far. If I can manage to final, I'll do well, but that's a big IF! I always tend to have one judge in the prelim rounds who hates me, and gives me a 6. Every tournament, I either go 1-1-1 or 1-1-6. Chances are great that I won't break into the KHSSL finals, just because I guess I'm inconsistant.
I only like IMP because I can vent in there, and sometimes people like it. Otherwise, I just babble and bore people.
Ranks, eh? Well, because of my patchy record, (Calloway-1, WKU Big Red-1, Warren East-No Break, Danville-No Break), I don't feel the need to rank myself up here.
1. der Reese
2. Raney
3. Hagans
4. Stroup
5. Huot
Honorable Mention:
Lots--Gallenstein, Johnson, Greenhaulgh, Enlow, Allen, so on.

Thanks for the concern, but ask Richie said I'm not doing Impromptu at state...the reason is I'm Not Qualified...I was qualified but then once KHSSL decided not to count Calloway TOC as a qualifier for state, I wasn't any longer, I guess I could blame it on going 6,1 at WKU, or 1,2 with a 96 speaker score at WE, or 1,2,2 at i forgot where...but I have had numerous tournaments this year that I have been close but no cigar, and since we had 3 qualified impromptu speakers already it wasn't even up for discussion, I could say I got the shaft, but I basically shafted myself all year long but oh well...

Thanks Brice, but I just missed our slate. Our slate consists of MIC, Huey, and Kat. So, alas... no Impromptu. But I do have my politically charged poetry. (can I get a w00t w00t?)
Also, Spencer competed in it twice, maybe thrice, and did break once (got third I think...)... but did not make our slate. Next year, in whatever events he does, he is going to own it. (but first he must work on Olos Nomrom, EX, and CGR this year)

Exactly. That's what we (I think Sara came up w/ it, and it's kind of caught on) call his solo.
I know this isn't the thread to ask, but is Campbell County going to Scott County on Saturday?
