What 3 states are the most competitive in INTERP? Take the poll. Also, please provide possible evidence to support your claim.

MY VOTE:

1. Texas
2. California
3. Illinois

California. I cannot provide evidence. But I am right. Like your priest.

Seriously, though, California.

Why Illinois?

This is a tricky questionnaire. Some states have a few very good interp programs that kick *** nationally - Minnesota has Eagan and Roseville; Iowa has West High; Illinois has Glenbrook - but there is not a whole lot of other competition within these states in interp (debate is another kritter). States like Texas, California and Florida have considerably more schools of comparably high talent and therefore more competition within the state. Some states may have no good interp teams but many teams that all suck at the same level which makes for a very competetive state but they die out early in the national tournaments.

Texas and California have the best, but they also have some of the worst.

Well said, IE.

I completely forgot about Minnesota. I'm changing my vote. ...there.

California, they have consistently brought great competitors to nats, while eagan and others usually have 1 or 2 groups that are incredibly amazing. Logan, Leland the big competition, which makes intra-state competition incredibly... competitive. Not to mention Bellarmine and gabrelino,... amazing IE programs.

Minnesota has Eagan and Roseville... AND Eastivew... AND Apple Valley! All schools with past National Finalists in Interp categories!

In the past two years, Minnesota has had two schools awarded the National School of Excellence in Speech in the same year (not that that is just Interp, but I know both schools have strength in Interp) - Eagan and Eastview. And prior to that, I belive both Eagan and Apple Valley were given this award in the same year.

Certainly, all of these listed are very competitive in Interp and have ALL probably had similar showings as I've mentioned above for Minnesota... but my vote is still MN!!

Moorhead HS from Minnesota was also a school of excellence at Nationals last year too...

Eagan, Apple Valley, Eastview, Roseville, Lakeville... these 5 are the big dogs in Minnesota.

What i think is so amazing about the big MN is that eagan alone has 3 finalists at NFLs in only HI - i dont even know about other events - while all of new jersey has had like 3 or 4 finalists in interp in the past decade! They know their **** in that state.

Another amazing thing is that the majority of those big MN schools compete against each other every weekend. They are all pretty much within an hour of each other. They don't need to compete on the national cirquit to find a tough final round.

I'd say top 3 are CA, MN and TX...

Eagan only had 2 in that final round last year, if thats what ur talking about.

Why Illinois?

BOO. Illinois had an HI Finalist last year, an OO Finalist, a Prose Finalist, a DI Semi-Finalist, a DUO Semi-Finalist, and 2 years ago Illinios had 2 place in the DI Final (and then I don't even know when "The Best Medicine" was in DUO Finals and when "Inside Out-Upside Down" was in DI Finals, but they were both from GBS).

sebastian - right you are... I didn't mean to forget Lakeville, they too have done extreamely well on the National circut. I didn't know that Moorhead was a National School of Excellence last year!
