Brian Huot, Boone County.
I don't post much in here because I haven't got a whole lot to say that's relevant. So yes, I'm definately an off-topic abuser.

I dont even think im gonna compete at CFL. I might go to support the team but to compete? It seems kind of pointless, i really do hate the fact that they combine DI, HI, solo, and story all together. Yeah, DP makes my brain hurt. My hat goes off to Aaron who has decided to go in the most hellatious of all events! lol Sorry to anyone who might like DP, but I did it last year...I thought I would lose my mind! I think a lot of people who should have broken didn't due to the weirdness of the event. But the past is behind us, we'll just have to see what happens this year!
yeah, power to anyone who is willingly going to do dp. last year i didn't really know what i was getting myself into. nobody had warned me how difficult the event itself was, just that the tournament was difficult. and this year it'll be even harder with fewer people advancing and.....aaaahh! can't think about it! *goes to her happy place and hums loudly*

Ria, I know exactly how you feel. At the Glenbrooks National Tournment in Chicago, in Oratory, I was the the next out to Quarterfinals. I had the ranks of 2,3,3,3 and a compostie of 11. Mr. Etherton talked to the person incharge of the tab room and he said that you needed a composite of 10 to break. I was happy and sad at the same time. And at KYNFL, I was one rank away from going to NFL Nationals. I had a composite of 21 and Mason Scisco had a 20. Again it was bitter-sweet.

sorry for butting in on the southern forum but...
1 point away from breaking to finals in HI at SCU invite freshman year
1 point away from breaks at MLK in duo freshman year
1 point away from HI finals at SCU soph year (103 temp with flu)
1 point away from breaks at berkely in HI soph year
1 point awat from Finals in HI at MLK this year (they took 4 from 1 room, 2 from the other...i was 3rd in the other)
I kid you not. every one of these was ONE POINT. i was also 2 or 3 away from duo finals at berkely this year. so next time you think about how unlucky you are....read this. To my advantage, the tournaments i didnt break in HI, i finaled in Duo or debate or visa versa...but still. look at that
mintyfreshdeathbreath
04-09-2005, 05:22 PM
Ooo... California blokes!
I most definately feel your pain. You still appear to be kicking butt and taking names, so I wouldn't feel to bad.
Hee hee. Hi, my name is Sara. And you are?
ryan, i feel your pain there. at CFL state, rachel and i were next out for going to nats, taking fourth place when they sent the top three. then the woman running it told us that there were actually enough schools there to send the top five people, but they registered late so we couldn't. that just made me feel worse.
and jesus, i feel your paing too. but my entire sophomore year, i was 1 or 2 points away from prose finals. junior year was better, but this year i was constantly doing the same with solo. and i have a strong suspicion that rachel and i were next out for duo semifinals at state this year, too. at the very first tournament i ever competed at, i went 2 2 (it was a swing), and it took a 1 2 to break. this has been following me from Day 1, as a scared little freshman, to now, as an overachieving little senior. blah.
BansheeSoccer13
04-11-2005, 12:04 PM
Yeah, I don't know what we're talking about really, but that whole CFL thing was pretty much poop. People shouldn't have been allowed to register late. End of story. But, it's not my deal.
*sigh* If wishes were fishes I'd have a sea full of dreams....

WAKE UP BIG SOUTH FORUMS!

yeah, i wasn't mad at her about it, i was just aggravated that she had to tell us.
vertigo_dx
04-12-2005, 04:45 PM
I figure she did it to encourage schools to register on time next year. . . her giving us the facts, brutal though they might have been, was a really good move if it allows more kids to go to nats in 2006.
I know that's not much consolation for those who narrowly missed it this year, though.
mintyfreshdeathbreath
04-12-2005, 06:05 PM
Yeah... But then again people will probably forget in 07 and 08... Vicious cycle.
