After reading a play and then watching the performance on the national tape, I am 100% that there were certain "funny phrases" and words that were completely fabricated. Often times people comment, "Well they can take one word from one page and technically put it with another.....so they could have just done this" However, I studied the text and the words (which were funny) were not present. Also, many people will comment, "maybe they used it for transitional purposes". Nope. The phrases, words, were specifically used to cause Laughter.

QUESTION: Is fabriciating words, phrases in a piece (in order to create a stronger piece) common in interp?

I wonder if we set up a system where we heard a BEEPING sound during a performance if the performance was illegal due to words being authored....how often would we hear the beeping on a Saturday?

Thanks,
Pez

It's common, it's bad, it's illegal, and it's rude and disrespectful to all of us who actually cut and use the piece as is. I say we execute the infidels.

i think that certain liberties can be taken, but sometimes people rely entirely on things like this, and that annoys me. when they decide that they're amazing b/c they have a funny line, that annoys me.
