I compete in college Parli, and I'm trying to come up with some fun practice ideas...I want to avoid the repetition of practice rounds every meeting.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Here are some things that might help:
Have someone propose a random case, go around the room and everyone has to come up with one opp independant point. You can take them one at a time and discuss which ones are more effective.
Also run some drills where people try and decrease the amount of tiem it takes them to make a coherent opp, but make sure not to make it sound like a policy debate, where everyone just talks at light speed.
Have a day where the team just informally brainstorms some case ideas.

We've found practice rounds prove to be the most beneficial. What we do is on Monday we'll pick a topic area (Israel/Palestine, Iran, Condolezza Rice) and research it until next meeting on Wedsnday where two teams are chosen to debate the topic. After the round discussion is held, not only about the round itself, but other issues of the topic. Also, take a day to brainstorm case ideas, Disad's and K's. This helps not only for tournaments, but for your beginning debaters as well.
