Many teams have over 100 students on their speech team alone. However, it is virtually impossible to provide "1-1" coaching sessions.

1. How does your school's coaching sessions (appoitments) work? How is it structured?


2. Do the "Divas" (stars) get an appointment each week? How long of an appointment?

3. Do the "Sub-Varsity" and "Novice" kids get appointments each week? How long are their appointments?

4. Basically, explain how your team manages to coach all of the kids every week.

5. HOW MANY coaches does your school have for SPEECH?

Well, we don't have that many kids, but we do have around 50 (40 of whom are new) and 4 coaches. Usually the "varsity" kids coach the "JV" kids, and then they have a coaching session or two with the coaches right before a meet (which is about once a month for us). The coaches just trust that the varsity kids will have their act together (which they usually do) and we have about 1-2 sessions each month (more if we want to, though). I should say, though, that we have one "head" coach, one "assistant" coach, (who are both teachers at our school) and 2 volunteer coaches (who are in class with us and travel to most tournaments, they just aren't teachers - they're a retired couple). We have pretty good numbers, I guess.

wow...see, we only have, i think, 30 members. 15 of them are new. our parents come in on certain days after school, and we practice for them. the younger kids can also practice for the seniors if we don't have enough parents on any given day. everyone stays after once a week, and we don't do practice on fridays except in special circumstances, like when soccer season is happening.

We had, at our biggest point, probably right around 100 members.

Kids take the class, kids sign up for events, kids do well in events. The coach doesn't talk much one on one except maybe after each tourney. You can always talk to her during/after class though.

We managed ourselves, generally. Coach Holden just ran the whole show.

This year we have about 94 kids on our team. We are very fortunate because we have 12 coaches- some are teachers at our school, but most aren't. Basically each coach has their certain number of kids who they are the "primary" coach for. Each person meets with their coach once a week for a half an hour. If you are in two events, you may have a different primary coach for each category. Every student on our team gets a half an hour of practice per event, per week, novice or varsity. We also have two head coaches of our team that basically oversee all of the logistics of tournaments/scheduling/etc.

We just go in whenever we please. We have a team of about 80 or so, but a few people really enjoy forensics. If you want a coaching session just stop by whenever you feel like it. It's nothing too scheduled

We do about what chapstickisgood said: About 90 kids and 14 coaches. Once a week for half an hour is the minimum, but many opt for more time with a coach. Double entries get two coaches normally. We also have captain's practices where we "coach" each other every so often.

We've got 60 forensicators (less than one twelfth are the least bit dedicated) and zero coaches. BEAT THAT! The possibility for one-on-one sessions is mathematically undefined.

Don't worry. Sam has NO coaches. It is absolutely possible.
