i like punk better because i dont care to hear about what girl snoop dogg raped last night or what car jarule drives or what flavor nellys pimp juice is. i hear the music, but punk is soo much better.

WOW!!! i really hope that your not subjesting that Good Charlotte is punk rock...cuz if that was so...punk rock is dead...

RAP:
Retards
Attempting
Poetry

I like punk better as long as its not something i could do by myself (ie. Banging on a bunch of instruments and yelling...in an album.)

I like producing and writing and doing raps...but thats diffrent than listening to it...cuz mine are joke raps...in the sence that they're humorous.

lol!!! "subjesting"? I don't know what to classify them as. they have punk tendancies... but i guess i'm not "hip with it" when it comes to the heart and soul of punk (hehe)

oh well.... i just thought it was funny to see their video in a Claires store

Jesus
05-26-2003, 12:27 PM
no...they dont have any punk qualities...they TRY to dress punk if that counts...they piss me off completely...i honestly dont think their music is that bad, but the fact that they even classify themselves as punk...or even rock...it just kills it all.

It doesnt surprise me to see them in a claires store, they appeal to little girls...and teenage girls...thats it

PS...
Dont Make fun of my spelling...someone never learned how to spell subjest OK!?

illiteracy rocks!

what would you classify them as, then?

maybe they just like dressing like that? i always found it amusing ppl were this attached to any one style of music like that...

Its pop that all it is its all it will ever be they couldn't hack it in the real punk scene so they started to play winny pop songs

Neither."Wiley, let's sing 'f*** the Police!'"

Bah, Wiley, bah. Bad form, child. I'm thinking of newer rap then NWA when I say neither. NWA, Eminem, and a few others are entirely excluded when talking about rap as a whole. Even if some of the good ones started that gangsta sh*t, it doesn't mean the same thing it does today. A great song is a great song, regardless of genre. Still...lets sing "F*** the Police", my speed!!!

now, like "movie star 1084", i may not be "hip" with all the crap trends these teens have these days, mayb its that crack cocaine that they like so much, but good charlotte is not pop, maybe its not as punk as afi or allister but its definately not pop, they came on tour here a couple weekends ago with nfg and movielife, and they gave a great show! new found glory and gc might not be as punk as they used to be...they have just evolved into their own style of music...screw what people classify their music as, they're awesome in my ears...and who gives a crap what they wear?? are you gonna buy a cd based on the peoples frickin clothes? however, i kinda go for all-american rejects, j.e.w., the used, taking back sunday, julianna theory, etc. that type of crap...what type of music it is im not quite sure but i know its not rap and its def not pop! yuck!

halfofaduo is right on the money... yay for halfofaduo!

i think ppl put too much into music. i loooooove msuic, and prolly wouldn't be able to get through some days w/o it, but i do not treat it like it's own lifestyle. this is where the problem lies in.

personal opinions, yes. but come one people... this is why ppl hate punks... honestly...

people do put to mucj into music thats a good thing if they didn't give everything up to music some of the greatest songs would have never been written the lead singer of my band gave up his marrage for his band now that is divotion and another thing punk is its own lfestlye its all about be different and individual and your self

that is fine to put it all into your music if you are the performer. that is expected. if you don't put your heart and soul into your gift, you suck. that, i am not arguing with or even talking about.

i am talking about the fans who are so narrowminded about music. the ones who live, breathe, eat, drink, and ARE the music they listen to. if they wanna do that, fine. but they are soo discriminatory against other types of music, and against people that listen to other stuff, it is SAD.

example, a group of hardcore punk rockers at my school spread some NASTY rumors about a friend of mine because they said she just listened to "their music" (a*k*a NOT the stuff they played, but the stuff they listened to) to get closer to a guy. THAT is sad. THAT makes me laugh. If you don't have your own band, wear shirts supporting a band, local or signed, you aren't "one of them" and they will have nothing to do with you.

I, personally, think that is unhealthy.

Misledyouth
07-06-2003, 10:58 PM
yeah but how many people do you know that eat sleep and breathe one kind of music everyone that i know who likes punk rock likes some other type of music for example my good friend Travis Owens some of you may know him he is one of the most hardcore guys i know but he still likes the blues he like reggae

I promise you that these guys who spread this rumor about your friend like other music besides punk/hardcore

and for my last point i breath eat and sleep punkrock because punk rock is more that just music it is its own culture and most of the people who are truly into punk rock belive the same and i mean truly into punk rock not just mtv punk because its not real the whole point of punk is not giving into the capilatlist economy and Bands like Good Charolette who own their own clothing line are ruining punk rock in its purest form not one day goes by when i meet someone new and they ask me what kind of music i like and i say punk rock then 90 % of the time the ask "What like Good Charolette and Simple Plan" it angers me greatly

If you want to hear punk rock go out and by a pennywise cd of rise against or you can go completly old school and by a minor threat or velvet underground record now that is punk rock

Misledyouth
07-06-2003, 11:05 PM
o yes one more thing Good Charolette doesn't even write their own songs the lead singert of Goldfinger give them all his crap songs see another reason why they aren't punk. on second thought are they even musicians?

Jesus
07-07-2003, 02:42 PM
yah, and all those bands halfofaduo said are pop-punk bands...some emo influences but its not anything punk rock...I also like a lot of those bands, i mean its good music. When i talk about how they dress iM saying that Jimmy eat World, for example, doesnt dress all hardcore punk and say on TRL-- ya, we're punk rock...keep buying our punk rock records. if they just didnt try to be something they werent...it just pisses me off

Plus, their songs are worthless...the only song that is semi good song they have, lyric-wise and stuff, is Little Things...all the other ones have no meaning once so ever...Who the **** cares about "Lifestyles of the rich and the famous" from guys who are rich and famous...or a random song about an anthem??? The other bands u mentioned have some good, lyrically and musically, songs...good charollette really doesnt.

O...and just curious...iVE been wondering...other than "singing" what the **** do benji and joel play in the band? in all the videos they're just waving their arms at the camera and stuff...iM sure they have to have a bassist or guiarist...iM not trying to mock them...but seriousely what do the twins do??

wow.

angry angry kids.

as to Misfit - actually, no... these kids don't listen to much of anything else. they do listen to some, but i'm talking about the way they treat it and other people outside of it. it really is sad.

as for Good Charlotte - i do like them. i don't like hardcore punk. i like happier, and why the **** not - poppier stuff because you know what? my life sucks and i don't wanna hear about more depressing woe is me stuff OR "this country sucks let me sing about it some more" stuff. i don't want to focus on that stuff.

wow, you guys are harsh and pretty judgemental.

I know what you mean, me too :(

i dunno.... see, i put up with abuse in the home. why would i want to hear whining... or "singing"..... about what is wrong with the world when i have problems at home? i just don't. i prefer happier music to take the pain away. more upbeat stuff. i don't wanna reflect on the pain. i want it gone.

xxLusciousZechxx

Amen... I know what you mean. I don't think anyone truly wants to reflect on all the pain and hurt they're been through...

Alright first of all your being Judgemental by calling me judgmental. i wasn't labaling you because you like GC what i was doing was trying to stat my opinion about punk rock and what it is to me.

Punk Rock isnt all "My life suck i think i might driunl some bleach" ig you actually listen to real punk then you would know for instance Lagwagon its not hardcore but at the same time it isnt poppie its a hapy medium and their lyrics are bad *** they acctually tell a story in their songs and write them unlike a band i previously talked about

and with that said there is only one more thing to do

A Summary

1. Good Charolette suck
2. they dont write their own music
3. they aren't punk on the grounds that they have their own clothing line
4. they are corperate billboards
5. they play ****ty *** 12 year old girl music and they are no different than Brittany Spears or the Backstreet boys

Punk rock. But it's not as if there's one or the other. There are so many genres and subgenres of music, but if you bring it down to the two, then I suppose punk rock...

Why waste your time arguing over this?

We all know the answer is punk rock...because EMO kids are taking over the world!

ugh. if i hear the word "emo" again i'm going to puke. it's a subgenre of music. i highly doubt it was meant for stereotypes.

I have to say I'm with fear and love on this one. Punk rock, emo, etc. aren't types of people. I don't yet know of anyone who has named their child "Emo." If you do hear about it, let me know.
