While I don't have an aswer for you, I'd like to point out that the rules governing college interp. are very different than those governing HS interp, as I'm discovering. A piece that does well in college may not even be performable at the HS level. Plus, a lot of judges and coaches either are or were college competitors, and could spot a piece like that a mile away.
Just fyi.

The biggest difference is that your binder can be used "as you see fit"- ie: it can be a prop, you can put pictures in it and show them, whatever.
also the rules about movement are MUCH more liberal.

I've seen some college kids perform and I LOVE the fact that you can use your book as a prop, I think it can be such a cool effect. Also, I'm all about the liberal rules concerning movement. In Prose and Poetry in Illinois, you can't move, but there are no rules against it in HI or DI - people just think there are :x

yeah, it makes interp about 8000 times better at the college level.

yea i agree college interp is way cooler...also college pieces are usually more subtle than highschool pieces...plus you can say what ever the **** you want in college and that makes a big diff in the piece selection process youd be hard pressed to find many colleg cuttings that could work in high school un altered...plus jsut cuz it finaled for sumone else doesnt mean it fits you...just things to think about hope it helps ya.

I find it amazing that you all say movement is more liberal in college over High School, when H.S. kids are judged by college interpers and they have a lot of technical movement, they get dumped big time.
Case and point is at ASU, the two techy duos got last in finals and the dramas got picked up with very little movement.
My biggest problem with college interp is that many people do pieces that are unpublished and they break authors intent. I think it has turned into who can write the best duo or DI or prose, not taking a published work and making it great.
In the Public speaking events, it is by far better than High school ,and rightfully so.

i personally think that as long as the message is the same its not breaking authors intent but in the case of the asu thing the dramatic duos may have just been better...i love lotsa tech but a real tear jerking drama can often get my one.
btw the phrase case and point rocks!
