Well..It is quite simple. If these two movies got into a fight who would win?

ohh, i thought this thread was going to be about the best fight scene in a movie. i am dissapointed :(

in other news, remember that year when both fight club and matrix came out? mtv had thier little movie awards thing and i felt so jipped for fight club. fight club was up for best fight against matrix. i mean, how could fight club lose an award like that? the firggin' movie is called fight club!

the fight between edward norton and himself was way more unique and creative and better than the fight between keanu & laurence fishburn. i mean, the glass, people, the glass! in norton's hands. and the fact that there was only one person in the fight. how could it lose? :(

Big deal if its named fight club. I could name a movie "Gonna win best motion picture of the year" and it probably won't, names got nothing to do with it. On top of that lobby shooting spree is THE greatest fight scene ever.

blah. it had no where near the orignality that the fight between edward norton and himself had. i mean look at it:

http://webspace.utexas.edu/tomjacob/www/fightclub/fightclub2.jpg
http://webspace.utexas.edu/tomjacob/www/fightclub/fightclub3.jpg

moreover, the movies were up for 'best fight scene.' the scene selected from the matrix was the neo-morpheus fight, not the lobby gunfight.

Memento is good, and very orignal. But no where near as good as fight club is. And plus, fight club had edward norton. You have try really, really, really hard to go wrong with edward norton.

I'm just going to throw the following into the fray:

The Big Lebowski
Waiting For Guffman

Also, I am totally on the side of whoever said Fight Club should have won best fight. That was bloody brilliant (pun intended  ).

Princess Bride is an excellent film (if only for the inclusion of Mandy Patenkin (sp) -aka my hero), but it gets old very fast. Once you watch it a few times, it fails to suprise you. It's still good, but not amazing to view more than once. Compare it with a film like fight Club or American Beauty or Saving Private Ryan. Everytime I see one of these movies, I take something new away from it. Princess Bride is a good romp, so to speak, but I rearely get anything new out of it.

Just saw League of Extraordianary Gentlemen...

Did anyone else know that Captain Nemo was a BLACK BELT in Kung Fu, as well as MASTER SWORDSMAN?? Yeah, I don't think they mentioned that in 20,000 Leagues. But that was pretty sweet, seeing an guy in a Captain's uniform and 3 foot beard sweep- kick a guy onto the ground...QUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! Hee hee...

Was that movie any good...? I figured it would have to be really good or totally horrible. :?

Well, the premise behind it...***spoiler...sort of*** is that all these characters from old classic novels gather to fight this evil guy from starting a war in Europe. He wants the war so he can profit by giving the countries weapons in a huge arms race etc. etc...

These characters are such classic personalities as Capt. Nemo (20,000 Leagues Under the Sea), Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde, A girl who helped kill Dracula or is his daughter or something...An Invisible Man...who had The Invisible Man's formula...as well as Dorian Gray, Alan Quartermain, and Tom Sawyer.

If you dig the whole idea of all these characters joining together for an adventure, then go see it. Otherwise...meh. It's not a *bad* movie, but's it not great, either...and certainly not AMAZING...just very run-of-the-mill good, bordering on mediocre.

There were certainly a couple of neat scenes. Skinner, the "other" Invisible Man, is quirky and, well, invisible. Seeing Mr. Hyde is neat...and seeing the guy who drinks too much of Jekyll's elixer almost made me throw up it was so cool. The Nautilus (Nemo's ship) is a *HOSS* by ship standards. So the movie was not without its charm.

On a scale of 1-5 stars...I give it **1/2...and I leave the rest to you!

Waiting For Guffman has owned every movie mentioned on this board except for maybe American Beauty and Saving Private Ryan. I do like The Princess Bride, but it is incredibly overrated. It isn't really that funny. The story and fights and everything are fine, but as far as being so funny I must be missing something that I should have since I am going to film school now. Fight Club is pretty good, better than The Princess Bride any day, but Guffman owns you all. Talk about great movies, anything by Christopher Guest rocks! But I do have to say, Eraserhead owns every movie in the world. It can take anything at anytime, every other movie will run away with crap in their pants!
