At that link, Staples does carry black ones. Maybe he's contagious with something.. who knows?
i love office depot....i'm such a fan of office supplies.
i saw a team once at regions that used white binders with the words "Basic Black Binder" written on them in black marker. it kind of bugged me a little.

There's a duo about a woman who's addicted to buying office supplies.
I've read it, it's OK. Maybe good for novice kids, but eh.
well, i'm not addicted, but i did make my mom buy me a little silver Chunky notebook and three metallic silver sharpies....

I used to be all about gel pens.
It was sad.
what's sad about that? i like gel pens.

Not so much the fact that it was gel pens, but the fact that I had so frellin' many. I found a box full of them just a few days ago.
...i still fail to see the sadness in that. i'd love to find a random box of gel pens....but then, like i said, i'm a freak about pens and things like that...

binders were easier --
Office Depot and Office Max had the 8 1/2 x 5 1/2
the sheetprotectors were more challenging

good luck
After hunting for page protectors for quite a while, I came up with a better idea. My school has a laminating machine. One day, my coach and I flipped its switch on and ran all my pages through. Took me under 2 hours to get them all cut out and into my book. They look great though!

I was normal and sliced up regular page protectors so they would fit :)

How would that work? Because if you cut them, don't they not have closed edges...?
We never use shet protectors, just back the script in black paper and 3-hold punch it.
But I might get some, now that I have the link..

do you think page protector/black ppr is necessary? I've always just used the regular typing ppr.... :?

I think the sheet protectors are just supposed to make it easier for you to be able to turn the pages, as well as making your pieces a bit more waterproof.
I love silver sharpies. Any kind of sharpie, really, but the silver ones are especially nice.

I use manilla folders as my binder pages. As far as sheet protectors go, I don't swim with my binder very often so waterproofing isn't necessary. Plus if you need to write in your binder to make a quick note you have to unclip and take the pages out of the sheet protector and write all over it and put it back in the sheet protector and clip it again and it's so much work its just useless.

If anyone is still looking for black books and slicks... we sell them.
http://www.theblackbookdepot.com.
We sell the 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 black binders with the spine down the center. They're $5.95 shipped to your door anywhere in the United States. If you buy more than one you get a discounted price of $4.95 each. There are no other charges.
We also sell the slicks that the majority of competitors use at the college level. These come with the black backing, are durable, easy to turn, fold open, and do not stick out of the book when it is closed. A black book with a much of oddly colored and shaped page protectors can be suprisingly distracting.
Hope you all will give us a look.

Personally, I print on cardstock. You know, that really thick paper. It prints straight onto it so there is no cutting and pasting, but it is still quite durable.

Wow, my team does it MUCH easier than all of you guys. We just format it so it's sideways in two columns; then we print it out, fold it in half- DO NOT CUT IT!, hole punch it and stick it in our binders. All you need is a printer and the same holepuncher you've probably been using all along. You solve a couple problems with this. 1) The pages are still thick w/o mounting it on other paper, 2) it takes all of two seconds to do, and 3) you don't waste as much paper.
So that's my two cents on a matter that you guys have probably already solved.
