Well, everyone, it's been a fun year. Good luck to everyone competing, and maybe I'll run into some of you in Salt Lake. I will personally try to find time to update via this thread. For everyone else, let's keep this as THE NFL's thread, so as to minimize searching for results, etc.
Thanks.

well, i made it. i saw sniffyguy (jeff) earlier. i have a massive headache. babies shouldn't be allowed on planes. on every flight there is at least one crying baby. but hey it's cool, i'm here now. so yeah, let me at least try to get some sleep. :P
oh yeah one more thing, for all UTNIF/FFIers: when/where are we going to have warmups?!

OOOO!!!! Warm-ups is a must! :D Well, I know that East High School is the happenin place to be for all HIers and DIers, not sure about DUO.
Maybe there, in some big open space. I'm sure if just some of us start "Ride that Pony" or "Let me see your butt" others are bound to join in!

Ok.... well Im ready..... when is the first break (for IE) ?!?!?
I believe that breaks are announced at the Schwan's Party Zone - Tuesday at 6PM. They started round 1 45-60 minutes late, so the whole schedule may be off by then.

GODSPEED, NOBLE FLORIDIANS.
Is this the video laser party? That thing is harcore, I did not go last year.
One recommendation is to look before the party where postings are, atleast for certain events. In case you're too cool to go--which is very easy--you can assure that you broke and be back in a quick minute.

going with that theme...can someone look up Will Cole (DI) and Colleen Skemp (DI) for me?
You can't exactly look people's codes up. You have to actually ask them or somebody who knows their code.

I just got word that postings are at about 10 o clock (just like CFL nats) which is at 12 eastern time! (**** the world)!
Interesting duo round (5):
Phil Tizzani & James Cattaneo (2nd at Crestian / 2nd at Blue Key) hit Rob Keech & Kathleen Hession (1st at Crestian) and also Iqwak Bhurji & Yue Tu (2nd at Cali States / 5th at Berkeley) - tough prelim round

Well I know I said my post under the extemp topic was my last but I guess I was mistaken b/c I've never had one of my roomates bring a laptop before. Anyway, as far as whether I will break or not is right up into the air. The analysis was pretty good and the speaking/fluency deal was fine but I messed up three of my questions over these six rounds and anything is possible. I guess if it doesn't work out I can do commentary, lol.
USX looks to have a pretty competitive field with Varun Akula, Kate Rice, Anish Mitra, Courtney Otto (winner of CFL), Liz Kraut, and many different others. Should be fun the rest of the week and I'll probably post again before all is said and done.
By the way, I can't believe how wide the roads are here.

What I know...
From Eastview (MN)-
Cory Stewart and Cory Bryan DUO "Torch Song Trilogy"
Scott Peterson HI "June Groom"
James Hohmann DX
Ishanaa Rambachan IX
From Eagan-
Natalie Sintek HI "Ruthless"
Ryan Johnson and Elodie Lee DUO "Soccer Mom..."
That's all I know from Eagan, besides the fact that their two DI's didn't break. I just talked to Natalie and she wasn't sure about the rest of her teammates because she is sick in her hotel room with some sort of food poisoning. I'll let you guys know if I find out anything else.

Well today was quite the crummy day for myself. Pretty embarrassing to go to the final round and win it last year and get knocked out in octo-finals here. I'm also pretty embarrassed about being a non-factor at both NCFL and here at NFL but I guess it just wasn't meant to be that way. I thought round 7 was pretty solid and round 8 was pretty iffy but I guess my prediction to maybe break in 30th position didn't quite come to fruition. So sorry out there to anyone who was rooting for me, predicted me to go far, yada, yada, yada, because I know I let you down and I sincerely apologize. My speaking has just slid off the depths of the earth after Barkley Forum and we never have been able to quite get it back. Anyway, see you all later.

If you look in the Northeast thread, I could swear that Bone broke to semis, I really think that maybe there was a misprint on VBD. From what they have though, it looks like Bone and Kendler and Wang dropped in quarters...
Edit: Tina beat me, and I still think VBD is wrong.

Logan said that Josh and Ron semi last night too. So who ever is in charge of VBD you better get it right. just kidding hahah sorry this is funny. Drama goin on in the drama board, but about extemp semi finalists.
FINALS!
Joel and Andy both dropped in HI Semis. Lisa Weiner dropped in OO Semis.
I have no clue, based on codes that I have, who is in HI Finals.
In DI finals: 118 Justin Blacklock doing Nocturne and 252 Paul Robeson are both in. Can anyone verify that the 252 Paul Robeson is ICW's Barry Vaxter?

HI:
148- some girl "kick me"
182- apollo from TX "once upon a wolf"
201- natalie sintek- "ruthless"
202- some guy "fables?"
241- erika dasher- "the onion"
301- some guy "click, clack, moo cows that type"
it's a little disappointing...tonight's finals won't be as entertaining as they could have been. i really think that joel keelor's "actor!" and andy heald's "night of the living dummy" should have gone in place of "kick me" and "moo cows". but hey, that's nats for ya. at least natalie is in there. i saw her this morning. now i realize why everyone was freaking out about her. awesome performance. i look forward to see her again as well as apollo, erika, and the guy doing "fables".

Abhrajeet Roy doing Fables
Duo Finals:

i didnt see the final duo round, but i did see all the pieces earlier in the tournament, and i feel that the only one really worthy probably was Having Our Say. BatBoy really just wasnt that good at all, NO IDEA how it won. The Witches, on second thought is a justifiable final rounder, they were really well done, i just didnt get into it as much as others probably did. an infinite ache was alright, i liked it, not sure about finals though. Shel Silverstein had good movement, and good energy and thats all. they had no characters and the script was incredibly immature. torch song trilogy just wasnt very impressive. it seemed that anything acted out with a hint of goofiness in it(aside from shel silverstein which im convinced advanced just on the basis of being shel silverstein) dropped FAR too early. ICW The Little Mermaid was probably the best duo i saw and they didnt even advance out of prelims.
HI finals were all worthy of being there, but youre going to have a hard time convincing me that the onion from finals is better then Robert Bergin from Bellarmine's, and he didnt advance past octos.
some really good HIs though. ruthless was fantastic. i really liked princeton's. and fables was hilarious when i saw it in semis, but i think the large forum hurt him.
anyway, im not bitter about not breaking because i was too goofy for the judges or anything.
hope all who attended had fun and did well. congrats to the winners.

Robert Bergin's The Onion is one of the BEST and FUNNIEST HIs I have EVER seen....
The Infinite Ache along with Having Our Say are two of the best dramatic duos I have ever seen, however, Infinite Ache seems to be a piece with better stage presence in smaller rooms. (short skinny asian people)

pierre made it only to quarters. i was disappointed. i was really looking forward to seeing him, but i never hit him.
i think that was THE hardest duo round to judge that i have ever seen. usually i am able to pick out which i love and which i hate, but each one of them shined in their own special way.
i don't remember laughing as hard as i did at a duo like i did when i saw batboy. while it may be a little overdone. i was very impressed with their timing, characterizations, the cutting of the piece, and the overall feel of them just having fun. it made me miss what i loved most about high school forensics: funny duo.
i was thoroughly impressed w/ the infinite ache. i felt almost the whole spectrum of emotions. their characters were believable, and their chemistry was great. i had a flash of seeing them in the top three at least, but i guess the judges forgot about them in all the midst of the great duos.
the thing that i think was very interesting about the adult shel silverstein duo, is that it was real interpretation. i don't think i will ever look at meat and potatoes the same way again.
the witches was the eye and ear candy of the bunch. the sound and visual effects managed to keep my attention while at the same time it didn't get on my nerves. and best of all, they did my fav. trick about voicing for the other person. when the witch screamed, it had me rolling.
having our say had great characterization. once again, there was indubitable chemistry.
the porch story trilogy was very intriguing. i've never seen the piece before and it had me very interested. the characters were easy to identify with and you can feel a certain something for each of them.
in short, all of them were great. they all deserved to be there. i wish i could say the same about HI and DI, but "that's the way it goes." regardless, i am very proud of everyone i got to meet this past week. andy, i will never forget your performance in semis. it was unforgettable.

Just wanted to say congratulations to all the oratory finalists, as I see that many of them are on this forum. An excellent round. I only wish I sat closer, as the acoustics in the tabernacle weren't the best (ironic, isn't it?) I know my orator learned so much from all of you, and she said the ones she spoke to in her octo round were truly gracious and professional. Hopefully she'll be up there in the future. Saeed, your speech was positively the most powerful piece I've ever had the privelege of watching (rivaling Tin-Yun's Two at a Time). I was in your round 10 (the really loose round in which everyone was joking around), and when you finished and we all walked out, I knew you'd won the round and I hadn't a chance to break any further. But I didn't care, because your ending absolutely awe-inspiring. I was tempted to close my eyes during your speech near the end, and I found that many audience members during final round actually did so. I was a little eerie, seeing so many people with their eyes closed in the tabernacle.
Ben's piece would have been fantastic, were it not for the less-than-good acoustics of the tabernacle. Nonetheless, I think he did a fantastic job on delivery. I noticed that the more distinct tie-in to Reverend King relative to earlier versions of the speech, and I thought that was a good move. Personally, I miss the references to the movie "Drumline". Ultimately, though, an excellent job - beyond anything I could ever hope to do.
Once again, congratulations!
On a different note: Chris, I have the picture I took of you and your friends when we were filing into the big Bravenel Hall thing.
One small gripe: the asian-oriental presence in the NFL final rounds was nonexistent. With the exceptions of Mike Joshi in a supp. event and Leland's Sarah Tseng and John Oh (I'm buying the duo final round for Sarah Tseng! ^^), I didn't see any other oriental performers in any of the final rounds. Maybe it has something to do with our stature, posture, and physiological limitations... we're shorter, thinner, and rarely have the marvelously persuasive baritones that Saeed and Ben possess. And we're not really that great in forensics, overall.
On behalf of Forensicsonline.net, I'd like to extend a request to the finalists from this year that if any of you would be interested, we at the site would love to present your speeches on one area of the site as an educational aid to present and future orators who want to see what the best are like but never got to go to nationals. If any of you are interested, just send a PM my way.
Thanks,
Ryan

No you can't.
National Forensic League
PmWiki can't process your request
'Admin/FormFiles/Results Booklet for NFL.pdf' is not a valid PmWiki page name
We are sorry for any inconvenience.
That was posted half a year ago. Since then, they have changed the full NFL website/system.

Sorry, I'm an ***. I misread this thread as having a new post, when it obviously did not. Sorry.
