I plan to go to UTNIF for Internat. Extemp with the extension this year, and overall want to know how UTNIF is as a whole; how it is to deal with for 14 days, things I should know...stuff of that sort. Thanks in advance to those who respond and help me.

Be prepared to have too much fun, meet people that are just way too cool, and change your life and outlook on speech too much.
(its a good thing, trust me)

UTNIF is simply one of the most amazing experiences you will ever have relating to forensics (unless, maybe you final at nationals. that might beat it). Do it. You won't regret it.

Alex; Hello.
Chris: Hello.
Alex: what are you here in? I thought you were going to Yale
Chris: i am going to yale. I am a coach
Alex; oh. Hey whats that over there? ::skidders away::

UTNIF is a...special...experience.
I mean, never before have I come to love someone so much in two weeks that I was willing to make an *** of myself doing an interpretive dance for him for his birthday in front of a room full of people. Heheheehehe. That was awesome.
Seriously, though...If you pour your heart into this camp, 14 days won't seem like enough. But that's what extension is for!

alex, you finalled at nats? in what? when?
Last year in OI, I think he got 3rd.
And dude, just go. At one point you might hate it and love it at the same time, but after the two and a half weeks, especially in extemp, you'll be rocking it like everyone from the lab who really put the time in. If you're dedicated, you'll do great.

despite the vast improvement in my skills as a performer and my knowledge of forensics, the greatest thing about UT is the fact that now when i go to national tournaments like harvard, i see kids from all over the country and greet them with a "whats up?" and they respond affectionately. The interstate community that forms between you and your fellow longhorns is what you'll be thankful for the most (i know i am). And the best part is that these friendships form independent of how well you do. Going to harvard and seeing SOO many familiar faces and recalling inside jokes from the summer can only be described as amazing. In fact, it gives me extra motivation to go to nationals. Not only do i want to go because its a great chance to compete, but also because if i do i'll get to see all the longhorns again. Represent!

I think the emoticon is supposed to express a happiness so extreme that you're about to vomit. Or maybe it's a forced grin in an effort to disguise envy...
