EXTEMP TOC(since apparently noone reads the tourney section)

Last year's extemp TOC crowd seems (based on reading results and general smack talking) like the field had a number of significant absences...i.e all of florida, bone, most of the NFL final rounders... Wondering who is considering giving NWU a shot this year

I'm on the bubble considering that I might not want to miss school during the week it is being held and also that my school isn't going so I'd have to arrange transportation by myself. I really do want to attend but I fear outside factors might cause me not to have the chance. Much also depends on whether I can survive my national qualifiers in-state which can be cut-throat.

I think their big problem last year of not having a lot of top guns go was that the date was scheduled right into many individuals graduation dates which probably prompted Tannenwald, Amaris, Hemel, etc. from not attending...that's probably not a uniform excuse but it's what I heard most often when "Extemp TOC" came up at CFL Nats last year.

Jason Warren seems to be trying to rally support for this one. Seems like many more people have shown an intrest in the TOC this year, so things are looking up. Depending on my graduation and finals dates, I feel pretty certain on my attendance.

Yeah Im definitly leaning towards going this year..hence the interest in seeing the field. Id like to hear that the cost of attending would be justified by the shot at a legitimatly named TOC...if those showing interest are going then I guess it'd be right.

It will be held on Northwestern's campus in Evanston, IL.

The Tournament of Champions in Extemporaneous Speaking will be held from May 14th to May 16th at the beautiful campus of Northwestern University, and all extempers are encouraged to attend. Most likely, you have already received an invitation, or have seen our advertisement in the Rostrum. This tournament will be hosting many of the nation's top extempers, just like last year, and is also a very good opportunity to check out some of the competition prior to either of the other national tournaments. With a great judging pool ( like me :P ) and a well run prep room, TOC is generally one of the most smoothly run national tournaments.

There are several different ways to qualify for TOC Extemp, although at-large applications are always given consideration.

God I wish I could go. I qualled and have the bids but my coach wont sign off on the idea. I even offered to pay for it and all too. Apparently Im worth nothing to this team.....**** PA extemp....
