This is for you guys to just say all the weird things that have happened to you some time or other during rounds/tourny's.

Some stuff is really bizzare.
Our team went to danville (which kicked arnus!!) They had a pirate theme. One guy went around playing the bagpipes! I though it was so kewl.
Before they posted finals This other...rather cutie... played his guitar and started to sing to this chick on the stairs.
~ Before awards the same 2 peeps got on stage, played songs requested by the audience.~

I had the best time there... it was a wacky fun filled day. But i loved it... ne other bizzare sotries out there?

One time I was doing storytelling and I was wearing mule type shows (you know the kind with out a back) and anyways in the part that I dance in my chair my shoe flew off and hit the judge in the head with my shoe!!!

It was pretty hilarious!!!
The judge was like "cool! a free strip show!"

o.k i got one............. one time we was at this tourney (graves/greenwood) and the tourney was held in the high sccool, but there was soo many people in the tourney that they had to use their middle school to that was like no joke 2 football fields in length and my event was over in the middle school and the other one was in the high school i had to walk back and forth like 6 times in the cold and rain! it was bad, but then some nice guy was giving rides to people in his van goin back and forth!....so it was all good i guess :?:

i remember greenwood/graves very very well. i won! woohoo! but i got lucky. neither of my events was in the middle school.
this may not really be bizarre, but it was a little strange. you know, in rounds, people are usually solemn-ish and everything? you know, maybe chat just a little bit if you're waiting for someone but mostly just sit and be quiet. well, in round..umm...i think 2...yeah, round 2, at greenwood, we were still waiting on two or three people, so everybody just kind of got up and started wandering around the room, looking at the posters and reading the comics that the teacher had put up on the walls...and at the clock. it was built backwards. that was fun. i was a little like "umm....what do i do?" cause that had never happened before. even the judge was looking around and reading stuff. they were trying to figure out what the classroom was used for, b/c there were posters from science, math, drama, english...pick something, it was probably there.

One person in a round had a bloody nose right in the middle of his presentation. He had to leave and come back and go last because it was running so bad.

Well this past weekend at Assupmtion they were playing music before awards. Me and my fellow teammate Ricky Rowan were dancing and this guy joined us and we had alittle dance off. It was fun.

What was this, a week and a half ago? At Crestian, there were 5 of us that spent the last hour of the three extra hours before quarters postings singing our little hearts out on the playground...so it got kinda late so we moved it over to the cafeteria (where everyone was) and we kept singing and we actually sounded not that bad, and people were throwing money at us and somone said to go IN the Cafeteria - so we walked (i say walked, but really we STRUTTED) to the middle of the cafeteria and started singing Jeremiah Was A Bullfrog, and by the end of the first chorus EVERYONE (or at least it seemed like everyone) in the entire cafeteria was singing, and by the end of the song, we had people on tables and chairs all over the place clapping and singing and really getting into it...we sang Lean on Me, and then halfway through Aint No Mountain High Enough we all got in trouble ("YOU MORONS!!!!") but it was SOOOOOOOO AMAZING!!!!!!!!

veronica, i think i saw you dancing...but i was talking to my brother, (i was soooooo happy he came!) and i didn't pay very much attention.

this wasn't in a round, but at gatlinburg last year, we went to hard rock for dinner, after awards were over. it's a tradition. anyhoo, while we were waiting for our food, they were playing all those music videos on the tvs, and they played the same loop over and over again. well, whenever the YMCA came on, we would get on the chairs and dance...a few of us would, anyway. and when the Greece music came on, we were on the chairs again. but then one of our guys did this uber-exaggerated dance, making fun of how people dance nowadays, you know, and i really think he offended a couple of people there. after that, the waiter asked us to stay seated, and we were all just saying "i don't think they realize that if they give us our food, we'll shut up!" and then they did, and we did, and it was fun.

hahaha i knwo...but its true. When i told u and ur brother you both just looked at me. I was just stating the similatities... oh well...

ria
01-28-2005, 12:12 PM
it was just a strange similarity to state. but that's ok. when is anything normal at a speech tournament?

veronica

very true..i wish more people knew about forensics. It is so much fun! It saddens me when most people ask me what it is and i explain it to them..and they are clueless....

ria
02-04-2005, 05:18 PM
but isn't the explaining so much fun? russ had to explain speech to his girlfriend that day b/c she didn't have a clue and we were just yabbering on and on and on about it, and she was just looking back and forth from him to me with a look that said "....huh?" it was kind of humerous whenever russ tried to say something like " a broadcasting that was eleven minutes! isn't that crazy?" and she was like "what's broadcasting?" it was funny.

It is funny to see thier clueless faces. I enjoy it...some people just wonder why i waste me time?... Speech isn't wasting time! Its just as important as other teams.

The way it usually works:
"NFL...Like Football?"
"No...Forensics"
"Forensics? Wait, like dead people?"
"No, speech and debate"
"Oh so you debate"
"...no"

veronica

That is exactly how it goes... I just say its our schools public speaking and acting team...that usually works for them

We get wheely chairs in the rounds sometimes for storytelling.
I distinctly remember spinning myself all the way around in the wheely chair in the story I did in the power round at marquette.
They're kinda fun.

You guys get to use a CHAIR in storytelling?!?!?!?

Quatapi
03-31-2005, 07:32 PM
Oh yes indeed! Chairs are delightful. It's like a prop and is used (and oftentimes misused) quite extensively. You Kentucky guys don't know what you're missing!

(Or maybe you were just being sarcastic?)
Oh well, chairs are fun nonetheless.

KY Acid Trip

veronica
04-01-2005, 08:50 AM
chairs.... that seems different

ria
04-01-2005, 02:49 PM
i don't know how i could use a chair in my story...but then, i suppose those who always use chairs can't imagine not using one, so it's all relative, really.

it's things like this that cause CFL not to have story.....*sniff*.....
